Why Every Car and Driver Should Have a Sheepskin Seat Cover
No matter the age of your vehicle, how often you drive or how far you commute, you might want to consider sheepskin seat covers. These are great options for any car and driver, and add some benefits to your overall comfort, many of which may surprise you. Note a few reasons why you might consider sheepskin seat covers for your car, and how they can increase your physical comfort while driving.
1. Friction points and pressure points
If you have problems with your back, knees, hips, or other parts of your body that are often aggravated by driving, a sheepskin seat cover can reduce friction and reduce pressure points when you sit in your car seat. The friction of the skin against the car seat can mean restricted blood flow to the back and joints, making them feel more stiff and painful. Putting pressure on your joints, such as when they're pressed down on an uncomfortable car seat, can also increase the pain you may experience from arthritis and muscle tension. The sheepskin seat covers soften the friction you would otherwise feel and relieve those pressure points as they absorb the pressure from your body and you may then experience less stiffness and soreness while driving.
2. Temperature control
Sheepskin is the natural temperature control of any car; it doesn't keep heat or cold as easily as leather, and is more likely to maintain a somewhat constant temperature. If you ride in a cold car with leather seat covers, the leather will usually be cold to the touch. If the leather gets hot in the sun, it will likely retain the heat and remain uncomfortably warm after you sit down. However, sheepskin does not absorb the surrounding temperature easily, so it is less likely to feel too hot or too cold when you first get in the car. If you live in an area with extreme temperature conditions, sheepskin may be a better choice for year-round comfort.
3. Lanolin
Sheepskin naturally contains lanolin, which is a very beneficial moisturizer for the skin. When you sit on the suede, your skin absorbs this lanolin and remains soft and comfortable. This is especially useful for those with naturally dry skin or those who live in dry, dusty environments or in areas with long winters where the air becomes very dry for months. Using sheepskin seat covers means healthier skin, nourished just by sitting in the car.
